Victor Pinkston Scott, born on September 30, 1932, in Sedalia, Missouri, passed away on November 14, 2025, at the age of 93. A resident of West Columbia, South Carolina, Victor lived a life marked by dedication and achievement.
Victor served in the US Army for three years during the Korean War from 1953 to 1956. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Architectural Engineering from the University of Kansas in 1959. Victor spent his entire career in the steel joist industry, beginning at Macomer in Canton, Ohio, where he held four US patents. He served as Executive Vice President and General Manager of Owen Joist Corp in Cayce, South Carolina, for 28 years, and also worked at Sun Steel in Sunnyside, Washington, and as President of Gooder-Hendricson in Illinois. Victor was a member of the Steel Joist Institute and held offices for 14 years.
Victor is survived by his wife Betty Lindler Scott. Three children from his marriage to Dorothy C. Scott (deceased): Stephanie Bear (Ted, deceased) of Mesa, Arizona, Victor S. Scott (Dana) of Charlotte, North Carolina, and Stuart Scott of San Jose, California. He leaves behind five grandchildren: Tom (Ellen) Bell, Abby (Aaron) Martin, Emily Scott (fiancé Cameron England), James Bell (Maggie), and Beth Skousen (Kyle). He is also survived by step-daughters Fairy Cobia and Wendy Thompson (Rob), nine great-grandchildren, five step-grandchildren, and six step-great-grandchildren.
A visitation will be held at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, located at 2491 Emanuel Church Road, West Columbia, SC 29170, on November 25, 2025, at 12:00 pm. The funeral service will follow at 1:00 pm. Burial will take place at Southland Memorial Gardens, 700 West Dunbar Road, West Columbia, SC 29170, following the service.
