MYRTLE BEACH – A funeral service for Walter R. Hughes, 82, of Abbeville, SC, will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, June 23, 2013 at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home West Columbia with entombment to follow in Southland Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. prior to service. The family requests those attending the service to dress casual.
Mr. Hughes passed away on June 20, 2013 in Conway, SC. He was the son of the late Walter and Vera Ann Hughes. Mr. Hughes worked at
Wil Lou Gray as a maintenance supervisor, he was an Army Veteran and a Past Master of the Sinclair Masonic Lodge.
Mr. Hughes is survived by his daughters, Patsy (Allen) Best and Anita (John) Petrow; his loving grandson, Connor A. Hughes; sisters, Annie Lou Humphrey and Betty Joyce Gilliam; sister-in-laws, Ruby Hughes and Jessie Ellis; and numerous loving nieces and nephews.
Mr. Hughes was predeceased by his wife, Minnie Cromer Hughes; son, Kevin R. Hughes; sister, Lois H. Harrison; and brother, Robert L. Hughes.
In lieu of flowers, Walter’s request was for memorials be made to the Connor Aidan Hughes Trust Fund; Patsy Best Trustee, 5897 S. Kings Hwy Lot 10, Myrtle Beach, SC 29575.
