

William Nelson Bright, a resident of Lexington, South Carolina, passed away on January 22, 2026, at the age of 80. Known for his hard-working, humorous, kind-hearted, loyal, patient, selfless, faithful, and thoughtful nature, Nelson leaves behind a legacy of love and dedication.
Nelson attended Hollywood School in Saluda, SC. He served in the US Army for two years, after which he worked in the family business and later at Iron Mountain until his retirement in 2015. In his retirement years, he enjoyed life and cherished time with family and friends.
Nelson was married to Phyllis Adams Bright for 55 years. Together, they had three children: Tracey Bright, Amanda B Robinson (deceased), and Brian (Misty) Bright. He was a proud grandfather to his grandson, Ashton. Nelson is also survived by his siblings, Carolyn Frazier, Margaret Summer, Joyce Price (Von), Linda Harper (Steve) and William E. Bright, Jr. (Karen) and was predeceased by his brother, Edward Bright.
A man who always put church and family first, Nelson was deeply involved with the Church of God, a Worldwide Association. He was a kind and generous man who worked tirelessly for his family.
The family extends their gratitude to MSA Hospice, especially Susan Kent (Nurse) and Monica Johnson (social worker), for their compassionate care.
Nelson's parting words to those he loved were, "Don't get old - enjoy your youth."

A visitation will be held at the Caughman-Harman Funeral Home - West Columbia Chapel, located at 820 W. Dunbar Rd, W. Columbia, South Carolina, 29170, on January 28, 2026, from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm. The funeral service will follow starting at 2:00 pm.
Graveside services will follow the service at Southland Memorial Gardens, directly adjacent to the funeral home.
