Adrian R. Whitney, age 93, entered into his eternal rest on Monday, October 24, 2011, at the Lake Shore Village nursing home. Funeral Service will be held on Friday, October 28th at 10:00 a.m. at Connally-Compton Funeral Directors Chapel with Rev. Brad Herridge officiating. Interment will follow at the Waco Memorial Park. Visitation will be Thursday, October 27th at Connally-Compton Funeral Directors from 6-8 p.m.
Adrian was born on June 5, 1918 to Charles and Rose (Henderson) Whitney in De Soto, Wisconsin, the next to the youngest of four brothers. He graduated high school in 1939 in Lansing, Iowa. He entered the Air Force in 1941 and was discharged in 1945. In 1943 he married Eva Lee Hallman. They had three sons and moved to Waco in 1955. Adrian went to work for the Texas Highway Department as a surveyor and bridge inspector.
In 1961 Eva Lee was called home to be with the Lord. In 1963 Adrian married Nancy Stepp Frazier of Eddy, Texas. To this marriage came one son.
Adrian loved the outdoors and was fond of nature and wild animals. He loved feeding squirrels and birds, working in the garden, and taking care of the yard. He loved watching the Cowboys play, old westerns, and the Lawrance Welk Show. He was a member of Bosqueville Baptist Church and thoroughly enjoyed the services and Sunday school.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Rose Whitney; and his three brothers.
Adrian is survived by his wife of 48 years, Nancy; his four sons, Mitchell Charles and wife, Marcia, Marlyn Clifton and wife, Bonnie, Chris Randall and wife, Kim, and Robert Brian and wife, Diann, and step-daughter, Carolyn Vinning; six grandsons and two granddaughters and seven great grandchildren
The family would like to thank the staff at Lakeshore Village nursing home and Providence Hospice for all their loving care and kindness.
In lieu of flowers, memorial can be given to Bosqueville Baptist Church.
