

Barry Lafferty was born in Brownwood, Texas on December 9, 1954 to Robert Lee and Ernestine Lafferty. Barry attended Waco schools and graduated from Richfield high school in 1973. Barry attended McLennan Community College, receiving certification in the Mental Health field. He worked with various local agencies including the Freeman Center and Cen-Tex ARC before retiring in 2009.
Barry will always be remembered for his unique sense of humor and his quick laugh. He loved to play practical jokes on everyone and no one was off limits. He was a gifted writer and poet as well as an accomplished photographer, a pastime he relished especially since his retirement.
In 1991, Barry met his wife Eva and they enjoyed twenty one years of marriage. Eva was considered by Barry to be the best thing that ever happened to him; and all who knew him agreed. Barry loved his children and grandchildren, especially delighting in spending time with his two grandchildren, ages one and two.
He was preceded in death by his father and two brothers.
Barry is survived by his mother Ernestine Lafferty, his wife Eva Lafferty, children Rebecca Peet and husband David of Atlanta, Georgia and granddaughter Myla Peet, Son Justin Sage, wife Nicole and grandson Gordon Sage of Waco; brother Robert Ernest Lafferty of Spicewood; sister Merrilee Harmon Dunnam and husband Vance of Waco; brother Larry Glenn Lafferty and wife Beverly of Waco, sister in law Carol Sutkus and husband Adam of California, sister in law Barbara Shiba and husband Kei of Hawaii, brother in law Bill Stanzak and wife Sheri of New York and numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, donation may be made to American Cancer Society and the American Heart Association.
Visitation will be Friday, September 14, 2012 at Connally Compton Funeral Directors from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Services will be Saturday, September 15, 2012 at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church at 10:00 a.m..
