

Mr. Charles “Chuck” Dean Copeland, Sr., 84, passed away Thursday, May 25, 2017 in Waco, Texas. Funeral service will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 31st, at Connally Compton Funeral Directors with Reverend David Booker and Reverend Danny Wilkinson officiating. Interment will follow in Waco Memorial Park. Family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, May 30th at the funeral home.
Mr. Copeland was born April 21, 1933 to Willie Lester and Opal (Page) Copeland in Mexia, Texas. He married the love of his life, Shirley Beatrice Gifford on June 9, 1951 in Waco, Texas and they celebrated over 65 wonderful years together. . He was a longtime resident of Waco and a member of Acts Christian Fellowship and the Masonic Lodge in Waco. He also worked for the Katie Railroad for five years as a switchmen. Chuck own and operated Copelands Appliance for 24 years. Mr. Copeland was very active in Little League; serving as President and coach. He was instrumental in building the Northern Little League Baseball field. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Linda Wilkerson; son-in-law, Tommy Wilkerson; brothers, Willie Lester Copeland, Jr. and Bobby Joe Copeland.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley Copeland of Waco; Sons, Charles Copeland, Jr. of Waco, Jackie Lee Copeland and wife, Doris Ann of Neosho, MO; grandchildren: Michael Hunt and wife, Mindy, Tammy Kay Alvarado and husband, Michael, Lucrezia Pugh and husband, Kenneth, Jeffrey Copeland and wife, Christine, Christy Lynn Repp and husband, Donald and Trey Copeland and wife, Jerrida; 14 great-grandchildren and great-grandson, Tyler Wilkerson that Chuck and Shirley raised.
Memorials can be made to Saint Jude’s Hospital.
