Dorothy Dottie Mae Loyd Brooks

October 27, 1930 – August 25, 2010

Dorothy Mae “Dottie” Brooks, 79, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, left this Earth to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, August 25, 2010 in Waco, Texas. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, August 30, 2010 at Connally/Compton Funeral Directors Chapel with Dave Pafford officiating. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m., Sunday, August 29, 2010 at the funeral home.

Dottie was born October 27, 1930 in St. Louis, Missouri to Carl and Alice Butler Loyd. She married Jimmie D. Brooks on March 19, 1949 in Kirksville, Missouri. Dottie had a love for sports and was very involved in her family’s lives. She proved herself a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Those left behind to cherish Dottie’s memory are her loving husband of 61 years, Jimmie D. Brooks; daughter, Cheryl and husband, Brian; granddaughters, Kayla, Krystin and husband, Justin; great grandchildren, Elysah and Justin Wayne II; all of Waco, TX; sister, Helen Wheatle and husband, David, of Savory, IL; brother, Jimmie Loyd and wife, Donna, of Bonne Terre, MO; and numerous nieces and nephews.
