Essie Ladine Adams Davis

Essie Ladine Davis, 89, passed away Monday, May 16, 2011 in a local nursing home. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, May 20, 2011 at Connally/Compton Funeral Directors Chapel with Brother Larry Eoff officiating. Burial will follow at Plummer Cemetery in Limestone County. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, May 19, 2011 at the funeral home.

Essie was born August 14, 1921 in Farrar, Texas to Claude Benjamin and Laura Aline (Robertson) Adams. She married Elby Odell Davis on September 10, 1938 in Groesbeck, Texas.

Essie was preceded in death by her parents; loving husband, Elby Odell Davis; sisters, Ival Clark and Nelda Sue Davidson; and brothers, Wilburn Daniel and Jerry Daniel.

Those left behind to cherish Essie’s memory are her children, Wendell Davis and wife, Juanita, Kenneth Davis and wife, Juanita, Albert Davis, and Doris Whitaker and husband, Glenn; sisters, Dorothy Walker, Glenice Huffman and husband, Bill, and Elnora Allen; brother, Wayne Daniel and wife, Kay; grandchildren, Diana Bumguardner and husband, James, Wendy Davis, Kristi Jeu and husband, Wayman, Proctor Sherwin, Laura Sherwin, Michelle Gutierrez and husband, Javier, Wesley Whitaker, Melanie Whitaker, Melissia Rosenberg and husband, Eli, Michelle Ortiz, and Mike Dennis; 7 great grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will be James Bumguardner, David Daniel, Alton Davidson, Steve Davidson, Jon Davidson, and Craig Davidson.

The family would like to express our thanks and appreciation for the wonderful care given our loved one by all the nurses, aides and others at Royal Manor Health Center and also to Bluebonnet Hospice for their superior service to Essie and her family.
