Gary was born on November 25, 1935 in Mt. Pleasant, Titus County, Texas to Joseph Nath Clark and Margaret Esther Banister. He enlisted in the United States Air Force on Feb. 13, 1953 at the age of 17.
In September 1956, while stationed at Bergstrom Air Force Base in Austin, his friend set him up on a blind date with a “nice girl” , Ruth Laverne Pogue. They were married on December 15, 1956 at Onion Creek Baptist Church in Austin, Texas. Upon his discharge from the military service in Oct. 1960, he was introduced to the construction business by his father-in-law, Roy Pogue. After a long successful career in construction, he decided to follow a long time dream of being a truck driver. He owned and operated a big rig crisscrossing our beautiful country. Following his second retirement he worked customizing mobile homes and travel trailers. Mr. Clark joined the Masonic Lodge in 1964 and was a member for 50 years.
Ruth and Clark enjoyed traveling and camping with friends and family in their motorhomes. They made many friends through their camping club and game nights.
