Hattie Mae Motley, 82, of Waco, passed away peacefully Friday, January 14, 2011 at her home. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, January 18, 2011 at Connally/Compton Funeral Directors Chapel with Pastor Jeff Huckeby officiating. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial Park. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m., Monday, January 17, 2011 at the funeral home.
Hattie Mae was born April 17, 1928 in Malone, Texas to Asa Martin and Ila Velma (Carroll) Howard. She attended schools in Malone and graduated from Malone High School. Hattie Mae married William Doyle Motley on January 7, 1949. She taught preschool and Sunday school at Grace Temple Baptist Church for 42 years. She was President of the PTA at Brook Avenue Elementary for 9 years and President of the Lake Air Junior High PTA.
Hattie Mae was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Martin Howard; sister, Leona Lucas; granddaughter, Crystal Motley; and special sister-in-law, Marie Howard.
Those left behind to cherish Hattie Mae’s memory are her loving husband of 62 years, W.D. “Doyle” Motley Sr.; sons, W.D. “Bill” Motley Jr. and wife, Debra, and Bobby D. Motley; daughters, Sharon Jones and husband, Doug, and Deborah Golden and husband, Richard; 13 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and other relatives.
Pallbearers will be Chris DeLeon, Brent Golden, Brandon Jones, Troy Jones, Brian Motley, and Leonard Newman.
