

Imadean Peterson, 98, of Waco, Texas passed away Thursday, February 3, 2022 at St. Catherine Center Nursing Home in Waco. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. February 14, 2022 at Waco Memorial Park with Pastor Kelsey Fitting-Snyder of St. Matthew Lutheran Church officiating.
Imadean (also known as Dean) was born January 5, 1924 in Cranfills Gap, Texas to George Jehu (Jay) Hall and Laura Jane Green Hall. She graduated from Cranfills Gap High School in 1941 and attended Weatherford College on scholarship for one year before entering the Providence School of Nursing in Waco. In her second year if training Imadean became a member of the Cadet Nurses Corp. She graduated in 1945 and was employed as an RN in Surgery at Providence Hospital, Waco.
After World War II ended she met Harold Edward Peterson on a blind date. Ed had recently returned home after serving in the US Navy. They were married March 29, 1946, and lived in Houston where Ed was attending the University of Houston. They returned to Waco in 1948, where Linda Kay was born that July, and their son, Richard Curtis, was born in 1950. They were a very happy, loving family.
Imadean continued her nursing career with Providence as a nurse and instructor in their school of nursing, and then as a school nurse with Waco ISD. She truly loved caring for her patients, students and family members throughout her life.
Preceding her death were her parents, brothers and sisters, her husband Ed and her children, Linda and Richard. She is survived by her grandsons Tony Russel Peterson and wife Audrey of Ft Worth and Samuel Douglas Peterson of Plano and her daughter-in-law Cindy Kirby and husband Bob of Plano. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Imadean was a lifelong member of the Lutheran Church and lived a life that exemplified loving Christian values.
The family wishes to acknowledge and thank the kind and thoughtful caregivers who made her life comfortable over the years, especially Dr. Arthur Sudan and his staff and also the staff at St Catherine and Community Hospice in Waco who assisted Imadean in her final days. We also appreciate the wonderful residents and staff at Stilwell Memorial Residence, who loved and cared for Imadean like family. Memorials in her name may be made to Stilwell, St Matthew Lutheran Church and Community Hospice Waco or a charity of your choice.
