Joe Copaus was born October 29 1939 in Marlin, Texas to Marvin and Edna Copaus. Joe spent his youth in and around the Lubbock area before going into the United States Army in 1960 until 1967 when he was honorably discharged as a Staff Sergeant. After his time in the military he became a Mechanic and lived in Waco Texas where he met and married the love of his life, Charlene Copaus on December 6 1980. After he retired they moved to Clarksville Texas in 2008. Joe was called home November 30 2022 at his home surrounded by family.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife Charlene Copaus. Brothers James “Jimmy” Copaus of Waco, Donald Copaus of Livingston and his stepson Albert Williamson.
He is survived by his brother Melvin “Buddy” Copaus of Wolford and sisters Betty Sue Morris of Pinehurst and Diana Sonnier of Clarksville. His son Jodie Copaus Jr. and stepson Robert Williamson of Mt. Vernon.
As well as 11 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. He had a special place in his heart for his nieces and nephews as well as special family friends Stephen and Jamie Wrigley of Clarksville.
