I have known Jack from the start. We are first cousins who grew up together in the same community and attended the same schools. We didn't see each other very often in later years but did maintain contact throughout our lives. It was a great privilege for me to see him and simply say hello earlier this month. May he rest in peace and always be remembered by those whose lives were enriched by him and the legacy he left to all of us.

When I first came to Waco PD I was very fortunate to have the opportunity to work with John.  He always showed up eager to get started, looked sharp and always had your back.  He was a kind man and treated people with respect.  I was one of many officers who would ask for John as a partner if we knew he was coming in to ride a shift as a Reserve officer.

I worked at Waco PD and John rode with me quite a bit.  He devoted many nights to riding a shift in Patrol to supplement our staffing.   John enjoyed the excitement but also served as a result of his desire to make Waco a better and safer place to live.   I, like other officers, was glad when John rode.  John had “people skills” and handled himself well in all situations.  You could always count on John to have your back.  He was a good reserve officer, a good partner and a good friend.

Laurie and Family, I knew Johnny during my years at Rohan. He was of invaluable assistance in training for a career in this industry. I admired his product knowledge, but came to respect his persona as a human being; strong, yet fair in his demeanor. I lost my dad earlier this year and truly understand what you must be going through right now. All my best to you and Ralph. You are in our thoughts and prayers.

Laurie and family, I'm so sorry to hear about your dad.  What a great guy he was! The picture of him in the denim shirt and your mom in the red sweater is how I remember them.  You and your family meant so much to them. I'm glad you have good memories to help you through these days of sorrow.

Back in the mid 1970s, I worked at Rohan Company, and had the privilege of knowing Johnny.  I have a lot of fond memories of him, first thing comes to mind is the pipe. Second is he was the epitome of a gentleman. I remember the stories he would tell on Monday after riding with the police on the weekends. I remember the  story he told of borrowing his father-in-law's El Camino, and hitting the buzzard that came thru the windshield and landed in the front seat with him.  I also had the joy of working with Laurie - possibly during the summer or maybe it was after school?  I still use a cookie recipe she gave me = Chocolate Oatmeal No Bakes.  Please know, Laurie, that my thoughts and prayers are with you during this time.  Your dad was a wonderful man, and I also remember how sweet your mom was, too.
