Maria E. Alonzo

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, 1:30p.m., July 6, 2015 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Sunny Arcilla as celebrant. Burial will follow in Rosemound Cemetery.

Visitation will be Sunday, July 5, from 6 to 8:00 p.m., at Connally Compton Funeral Directors. The rosary will be recited at 7:00p.m.

Maria was born August 2, 1920 in Bardwell, Texas to Aniceto T. and Florence (Lopez) Espinoza. She married the love of her life, Jose Julian Alonzo, in Ennis, Texas, July of 1951. Maria was very accepting of anyone she came into contact with. Although she could be strict, she was a wonderful mother and grandmother. The simple things like having coffee and going out to eat with the family were the things she loved most. She also loved to play bingo, even in her later years. Maria was a strong Christian woman, and was a longtime member of St. Francis and Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She was always willing to help in numerous activities in church including the Guadalupanas. Maria was always known for her celebratory birthday songs she sung for any family member who had a birthday by singing Las Mañanitas no matter where they were.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Jose Julian Alonzo and several siblings.

Survivors include children, Sixto Joe Alonzo and wife Pauline of Fredericksburg, and Joe Cenon Alonzo of Waco; grandchildren, Michael Alonzo, Annisa Alonzo, Miranda Alonzo, and Jeremy Joseph Alonzo.
