A memorial service will be held 10:00 a.m., Saturday, December 20, 2014 at Connally Compton Funeral Directors Chapel.
Reuben was born September 30, 1959 in Waco, Texas to Willie and Margaret (Rangel) Padilla.
Reuben graduated from Jefferson Moore High School in Waco, TX in 1978. He worked at General Tire Company for several years. After the company closed down, he continued to work hard at various companies up until the day they told him he could not work any longer. Even as he was in the hospital, he kept telling his family he needed to go back to work. He had a contagious laughter and was always joking around with others.
Reuben was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church and was a strong believer. His interests included spending time with family and friends, collecting action figures, comic books, music, among other items he cherished and valued, and still enjoyed watching cartoons up until the Lord called him home. He was a huge fan of Bruce Lee and loved to watch his movies, read books and articles about him, and educate others on his strength and skills. Reuben adored his dog Kylah, who was laid to rest just days before he passed. She welcomed him home and they are together again.
He was preceded in death by his father Willie Padilla, Sr. Survivors include his children, Minerva Padilla, Kristen Mainor and husband Fredrick, Reuben Padilla II, and Chastity Ramirez and husband John Ramirez; several grandchildren; mother, Margaret Padilla; siblings, Rose Miller and husband Carlis, Irene Carrizales and husband Dennis, twin brother Robert Padilla and wife Carolyn, and Willie Padilla, Jr., and several nieces and nephews. In honoring his wishes, Reuben was to be cremated following a private visitation with immediate family. His urn will be kept by his children and a token of his ashes will be spread at various places.
