Viola Horne Wilkerson

Viola H. Wilkerson, age 88, died on Sunday, June 5, 2011 at Westview Manor in McGregor, Texas. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 11, 2011 at 12 p.m. at New Zion Missionary Baptist Church in McGregor with Rev. Larry Davis, Pastor and Rev. Corey Robinson officiating and burial to follow in the McGregor cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, June 10, 2011 from 6:00 p.m-8:00 p.m. Connally/Compton Funeral Directors.

Viola was born on July 21, 1922 to Isaac and Lorine Chism Horne in Thurber, Texas. She was a longtime resident of McGregor and a member of New Zion Baptist Missionary Church in McGregor.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Isaac and Lorine Horne; brother, Isaac Horne, Jr.; husband, Herman Wilkerson; daughters, Gladys Miller and Kathy Wilkerson; Son, William Wilkerson; grandsons: Amos Long, Jr., Irvin Wilkerson and Morris Wilkerson, Jr.

Viola leaves behind to cherish her memories her daughters, Ruby Long of Waco, Gloria Wilkerson and (A.C.) of Waco and Rachel Bethea and (Larry) of Hewitt; Sons, Morris Wilkerson and (Mercy) of McGregor, Isaac Wilkerson and (Minnie) of McGregor, Rufus Wilkerson and (Willie) of Waco and Marshall Wilkerson of Waco; 32 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren and host of cousins.
