Clinton Manuel Carvalho was born on April 12, 1985 in Atlanta, Georgia. He arrived on Maui, June 5, 1985 with his Mom. They made their home between Poppa and Grandma Pat’s house in Wailuku and their home in Kahakuloa. Clinton passed away suddenly while on vacation in Palm Springs, California on October 29, 2023.
Clint was a very bright and happy child. He attended St. Anthony School from preschool thru grade 12 and graduated from St. Anthony in 2003. In grade school, he was a consistent honor roll student, loved books and played basketball, baseball and football. One of his favorite pastimes was watching football games with his Poppa. He was a diehard Notre Dame fan and 49ers football fan. In high school, he fulfilled his dream of playing football for St. Anthony. By his senior year, he broke the schools receiving record and was on the All-Star Roster for both county and state. Clint made many friends while playing football and he treasured those memories.
Clinton left Maui off and on over the next few years. During this time, he lost both of his beloved grandparents and his Uncle Brian. He mourned their loss throughout his short life.
Finally returning home to stay, he learned he had a daughter, Bailey, and was so excited to meet her. He then met her brother, Knox, and found a hanai son. Finally, in 2019, he and Baby Mama Hana had another daughter named Kennedy. She turned out to be a mini- replica of Clint and she stole his heart. They were like two peas in pod and shared many of the same traits. Some of the happiest times for Clint was spending time with his children.
Clint loved being on the family ranch in Kahakuloa. He learned to ride and care for cows and horses, build fences, drive big trucks and tackle heifers. He loved the quiet in Kahakuloa and his freedom in the open range. Country life suited him. Clint once said his Kahakuloa house provided him with the most peace.
Clint was a private and independent person. But, he also was a daredevil and tried everything and anything much to his mother’s chagrin. He definitely was like a cat with nine lives.
Very few people knew the real Clint. He put on a tough facade on the outside, but was really a loving, caring person. He rescued cats and dogs and brought them home, gave ice cream and soda to underprivileged children, was kind to old people. He was also always trying to help former prison inmates with money, food housing and counseling. His one big flaw was impatience. Because he was able to do everything quickly, he assumed everyone could do the same.
Clint was a very sensitive individual and hurt deeply when he failed to live up to what he felt was expected of him by family and peers. He carried some demons during his life which he had difficulty facing and these caused some difficult times for him.
During the last year of his life, he found a job he liked at Pono Security and enjoyed all the people he met. He was able to quiet some of his demons and spend more time with his youngest daughter, Kennedy. She was the light of his life. He also found a new relationship with Tisha Fontanilla and he cared deeply for her. He seemed to be happy and content.
Clint is survived by his mother, Emelia "Emmy" Carvalho. She loved him fiercely and unconditionally. He loved his three children and was very proud of each of them. They are Bailey Morris (15), Knox Morris (9), Kennedy Carvalho (4). He spent some of his best times with them.
He is also survived by;Uncle Eldon & Marianne Mattos (godparents & second parents) and their family: Jeff (Vanessa) & Luke, Malu, Mark (Ashley Lamkin) & Destiny Haas (Ian).Uncle Rocky & Aunty Tracy & family; Kim Joaquin (Sean), Brennen & BradenUncle Billy & Aunty Marlene & family; Jennifer, Brian (Kalia Goo), Jenna Rodrigues and sons, Cody and daughter, Bryce, Travis Rodrigues & family, Taylor & daughter.Uncle Pj & Aunty Tammy, Anna, Bryce, Hope (Dez) & family.Great Uncle Alvin Nobriga (Kim) and the entire Nobriga Ohana. His best friend of many years, Eulan Udo.Girlfriend Tisha Fontanilla & family.Baby Mama Hana Horras (Morris)His two dogs, Tiny Dog and Moose. He also leaves behind many Carvalho family members and friends.
Clint was taken from us too soon, but God must have felt Clint's time here on earth was done and called him home. He will leave a hole in our lives but he is now at peace.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, November 20th 2023 at St. Anthony Church. Public visitation will begin at 9:00am and Mass at 11:00am. Burial will follow at Maui Memorial Park at 12:30pm
