Magdalene Martelles graduated from Maui High School (H. Poko) in 1959. She was employed for 30 + years with Hukilau, Maui Beach and Maui Palms Hotel waitressing which she enjoyed doing. Many knew her as aunty Maggie for many reasons, one of which was the compassion and love that she had for so many people, it was unmeasurable. She was always there with open arms welcoming those that was in need of help. One area that she often talked about was her love for assisting with the homeless ministry. There wasn’t anything that she couldn’t achieve, with lots of hard work and her Faith in Jesus Christ, all things was made possible. Her radiant smile brought joy to many hearts that resided in her presence. You would also experience this sense of comfort and care which instituted strength and peace to all those that needed it. Lastly, her spunky and transparent personality was quite hilarious at times, this too was a blessing.
One of the many things she loved watching was a variety of Sport Events, Wheel of Fortune, Old Shows and Christian Programs. She would often share with us that what is attributing to her being so sharp is doing her Cross Word Puzzles, Coloring Books but most importantly reading the Bible. She loved God with her whole hearts, soul and mind which is a legacy that will be cherished and carried on.
The Martelles Ohana would like to thank the church for their love, prayer and support which we’ll always hold dear in our hearts as well as to all those that helped with her medical care (Liberty Dialysis Kahului, Dr. Elleby and Staff, Maui Memorial Hospital, Hale Makua Kahului and Maui Hospice Care), you all did a tremendous job with assisting in time of need, we appreciate all of you professional help.
