

Apolonia "Polly" Ramiro Galam, 89, of Wailuku peacefully passed away on April 7, 2024 atHospice Maui, Wailuku. She was born on February 5, 1935 in Bacarra, Ilocos Norte Philippines
Funeral Mass service at Saint Theresa's Church, Kihei Maui will be held on Thursday, May 2.2024. Visitation at 8:30 AM; 10-10:45AM Eulogy, Reflections, MASS at 11AM. Burial to follow at2:00PM at the Maui Memorial Park Cemetery in Wailuku.
Polly is survived by her son John Galam (Trixie), daughter Grace Anguay (Lloyd), daughter in-lawErnaline Galam (Julian-deceased), sister Luisa Velasco, and grandchildren: Abigail (PatrickChing), Christina (Ed Ponce), Dinah Lee Nikanowicz (Daniel), Bianca Bonacci (Zachary), TylerAnguay (Elizabeth) Zachary Anguay (Marissa) and great-grandchildren: Kyla Joy, Xylie JazzelleChristian Jaziah, Hazlee and Emery Jordyn Ponce; Vayda and Leia Ching; Daniel and David JulianNicanowicz; Kai Tyler Anguay; Bea Kalina Bonacci and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband Liberato Galam, parents Irineo Ramiro and Carlina Veabrothers Jose Ramiro, Corazon Ramiro, father in-law Felix Galam, son Julian Galam and great-grandchild Lyric Ching
In the early 1960's Polly earned basic tailoring courses and in turn taught dressmaking andtailoring at their home in Bacarra. She enrolled at Northwestern University in Laoag City andgraduated with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education. She taught third grade class atthe Gabaldon Elementary School in Bacarra, before immigrating with her children to Hawaii in1971. She worked at the Royal Lahaina Hotel as a Pantry Cook for several years before sheopened up a "Care Home" caring for the elderly until she retired in the early 2000Polly loved ballroom dancing, gardening with family and friends, travelling to the Philippines,and at times in Las Vegas. Polly was kind hearted, she generously and lovingly shared everyoneher treasure, and her garden harvests to name a few, her ono "roasted macadamia nuts withmarshmallows, raisins and rice crispy." She was volunteering at Saint Theresa Church as one ofthe lead Eucharistic Ministers in the 1980's.
Mommy-Mama Polly will be truly missed and forever be in the hearts of the many people whoshe gently touched in their lives in so many different ways. She may be gone but her memoryneed never die
