Billy Gibson McRoy

Born August 23, 1935, a former native of Pitt County, NC and grew up in Simpson, NC.

After graduating high school, he joined the Army and was stationed in Korea. After the service, he moved to the Washington, DC area. He retired from AT&T at the age of 55. Although he wasn’t Catholic, he attended St. Peter’s Church every Sunday with his wife, Nancy.

He was a member of the Jaycees of Waldorf, MD, and a member of the Moose Lodge in White Plains, MD. He spent time coaching a women’s softball team in St. Charles. An avid sportsman, he enjoyed golfing, playing baseball, tennis, swimming, and horseshoes. Loved the Washington Redskins and working in his yard.

Mr. McRoy and wife divided their time living in Lakeland, FL and Waldorf, MD the last 18 ½ years.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Nancy McRoy and 2 children, Anthony McRoy and his wife Cindy McRoy of Mechanicsville, MD and Heather Edwards of Waldorf, MD, and 3 grandchildren, Erin McRoy, Michael Edwards III and Taylor Edwards.

He was preceded in death by his parents; William Henry McRoy and Sadie Irene Davenport; 5 brothers, Woodrow, Lyman, James, Jack Carson and Bobby Gene; and 4 sisters, Mavis Lee, Doris Lennell, Earlene and Betsy Ann.

Interment will be at Cheltenham Veterans Cemetery, Cheltenham, MD.
