

Delma Tura Frankel (nee Angell), 78, died quietly in her sleep, on February 24, at her home in Waldorf, MD. Her parents were Florence (Goodwin) Angell and Terry Angell. Born on December 13, 1946, in San Francisco, CA, she spent her early years in Reno, NV, before moving with her parents to Suitland, MD. She is a graduate of Suitland High School. She married Nevins Frankel and she is survived by her beloved son, Brett Frankel, also of Waldorf, MD,.
Delma was a long-time federal employee and continued to work up until the time of her death. She spent over forty years at the U.S. Census Bureau, mostly in the Population Division. She studied statistics at American University and became a statistical assistant at Census. She worked as a writer and editor on many user publications, most notably the Census Bureau’s Catalog of data products, and she wrote and co-authored monographs on the Survey of Income and Program Participation.
Delma leaves behind family and friends who cherish the memory of her warmth and positive attitude; love of movies, going to musicals, plays and concerts, reading books, lots and lots of books, and her devotion to her beloved cats.
A Celebration of Life gathering will be held at a later date.
