

Gloria Jean Goff Rice was born February 13, 1929 in Haymarket, Virginia, first daughter to Harry Cecil and Mary Louise Roof Goff. She was married to Lucien Ewart Rice of Washington, D.C. on November 17, 1948. At the time of Mr. Rice’s death, they had just celebrated 60 years of marriage. Descendants are Sharon Eileen Rice Brosius (Jay) and Stephen Harry Rice (Luci), as well as their children, John William Brosius, IV., (Anna) and Laura Jean Pulscher (Toby), and Stephen Harley Rice and Annah Wynn Rice Rinaldo (Marc), and great grandchildren Heidi, Clara, Jack and Alan Brosius and Malcolm and Oliver Pulscher.
Mrs. Rice leaves behind her other siblings, Elva Grove (Walter), Harry C. Goff, Jr., (Gloria), and Stewart L. Goff (Frances), as well as their children and grandchildren. Her next oldest sibling, James E. Goff (Dorothy Lee) preceded her in death.
Mrs. Rice was employed much of her adult life as an administrative assistant for various government and other agencies. She especially enjoyed her position for many years with the U.S. Army’s Signal Corps at the Pentagon.
Mrs. Rice revealed her love for and enjoyment of family and friends by her care and concern for them and by many social gatherings and reunions throughout the years. Her love of the ocean shores took her on periodic vacation trips to beaches in both Maryland, and Florida where family resided.
A service will be held at the Maryland Veteran's Cemetery Cheltenham, Maryland on Thursday June 25, 2015 at 11am with the burial to follow.
