

James A. Knapp was born on September 12, 1949 in Framingham, Mass. He was the son of the late Albert C. and Ruth E. (Gebo) Knapp. James was raised and educated in Framingham. James began his long career working with computers by studying electronics in high school. He was an encryptionist and computer technician for the U.S. Air Force for 22 years and then for GSA for 20 years. His career took him around the world and allowed him to meet a broad array of people from fellow members of the Air Force to Supreme Court Justices. James was dedicated to his family and friends. He enjoyed photography, biking, crossword puzzles, reading, traveling, cooking, and playing with his grandchildren. He was a life-long cat lover and was well known for his dry wit and twinkling eyes. James is survived by his wife of 42 years, Josefina Knapp nee Costas, his daughter Sonia Knapp, his son Eric Knapp, four grandsons, and one grand-daughter, his brother Kenneth R. Knapp and many nieces and nephews. Relatives and Friends may call at the Huntt Funeral Home, 3035 Old Washington Road Waldorf, MD, on Sunday March 5, 2017 from 12:00PM-2:00PM. Funeral Service will follow at 2PM. Interment will take place at Maryland Veterans Cemetery in Cheltenham, MD.
