Leah Isabelle Martin

Isabelle Z. Martin, 96, of Asbury Methodist Village, Gaithersburg, MD, formerly of Brandywine, MD, slept quietly away on September 10, 2016. Born August 1, 1920, in rural Maryland, she was the daughter of Rev. August Frederick and Helen Brown Zimmerman.

A graduate of Western Maryland College, Mrs. Martin taught senior high English and worked as a librarian in Prince George's County Schools. She was married to T. Ward Martin of Brandywine, MD, in June of 1943. An avid reader and world traveler, Mrs. Martin chaired the book club at Asbury Village where she was known for her extraordinary memory, quick wit, and fondness for good stories.

Mrs. Martin was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her siblings. She is survived by her nephew, the Rev. Dr. Barry E. Cressman and family of Titusville, PA.

Dr. Cressman will officiate at a memorial service to take place at Asbury Village at a time yet to be announced. Mrs. Martin will be laid to rest in the Hunt Family Cemetery in Waldorf. Memorial contributions may be made to the Asbury Benevolent Care Fund at www.theasburyfoundation.org.
