

Marvin Eugene Raby, also known to many as Fireball, the Mayor of Waldorf, and Santa Claus, has passed away on Thursday, September 22, 2016 at 7:24 in the morning. Marvin was a highly respected Veterans advocate, community leader, and was still a charter member of the Waldorf Fire Department.
He is survived by his two daughters, Babbie Lynn Chenette (Gregory James Chenette) and Lisa Hope Johnston (Ralph Johnston), his sisters, Willa Mae Foster, Mildred Weston, and Joyce Ann Harold (Bob Harold), his brothers, Glenn Raby (Junie Raby) and Johnny Raby. He was a loving grandfather to Joseph Craig Raby, Heather Brooke Smith, Shannon Leighann Vazquez, Amanda Leigh Raby, Ayla Badell, Nina Badell, Kara Badell, Skyler Johnston, Kendall Johnston, and Nadia Johnston. He was a cherished great-grandfather to Ryder Luthman, Brogan Smith, Anthony Raby, Lucas Callahan, Cheyenne Vazquez, Alena Warsley, and Skyler Vazquez. He was preceded in death by his parents, Arvin Glenn Raby and Lottie Mae Saunders, and his brothers, Charles Rogers Raby , William Raby and Tracy Raby. He had to endure the loss of his only son, Marvin Craig Raby who died on February 24, 2015.
Marvin Eugene Raby was a great, caring, kindhearted man, and a dear friend to so many. He will be missed and never forgotten for who he was and all he did. He served his country well and died having fulfilled the true American dream of faith, family, love, and simplicity.
Friends and family are welcomed for a visitation on Sunday, October 2, 2016 from 3-5pm and 7-9pm at the Huntt Funeral Home in Waldorf.
A visitation will be held on Monday, October 3, 2016 from 12pm-1pm at Waldorf Seventh Day Adventist Church.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, October 3, 2016 at 1pm at the church. Interment will be held at Heritage Memorial Cemetery in Waldorf following the funeral service.
A reception will be held at the Elks Waldorf Lodge, 2210 Old Washington Rd in Waldorf following the Interment. Those who would like to contribute a dish to the reception may drop off their dishes on Sunday, October 2, 2016 between 12pm and 9pm at the Elks Waldorf Lodge, 2210 Old Washington Rd in Waldorf. Please do not provide any pork dishes.
