

Alphonse S. Goudy Jr., “Speelyi”, 82, passed away May 27, 2013 at Yakima Memorial Hospital. Jr. was born on February 11, 1931 in Wapato, WA to Louise (Stryker) and Al Goudy Sr. After graduating from White Swan High School in 1949, Jr. attended the Haskell Institute where he studied Radio Communications. Jr. then joined the Navy. After his short Navy career he reenlisted in the Merchant Marines. Jr. spent 30 years in the service and sailed around the world 8 times and had many exciting and wonderful stories to share with his family and friends.
After Jr. moved back to White Swan he married the love of his life Joan French. Jr. became a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in White Swan and began volunteering for the local food bank. Jr. in his free time, liked to fish at Mt. Adam’s Lake, hunt, pick huckleberries, and hunt for mushrooms.
Jr. is survived by many loving nieces, nephews, family members, and friends. “Uncle” Jr. will be greatly missed by all those who knew him. He was preceded in death by his wife Joan (French) Goudy; and his parents Louise and Al Goudy Sr.
Merritt Funeral Home is caring for his services. Visitation was held on Sunday, June 2, 2013 from 3-7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. A Recitation of the Rosary will be held at 6:00 p.m. A Mass of the Resurrection will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in White Swan on Monday, June 3, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Abraham Cemetery in White Swan.
