

Alveda Jane Hansen, 58, of Wapato, entered into eternal rest surrounded by her loving family and friends on Saturday, February 20, 2016. Alveda was born in Toppenish, WA on April 23, 1957 to Louise and Joe Woods.
Alveda was a proud member of the Yakama Nation and worked for the nation as an Administrative Assistant. She was a member of the Shaker Religion for over thirty years took great pride in her devotion and service to her creator.
Alveda loved to travel for church related activities, go camping with family and friends, and was known for her sewing and beautiful beadwork.
She is survived by her son, Asa Hansen; her two step-daughters, Patricia and Angela Hansen; her brother, Cedric Clark; and her sisters, Monica Clark, Christine Woods, Linda Woods, Yvette James, and Mary Lairmore. Alveda was preceded in death by her husband, Patrick Hansen; her parents, Joe and Louise Woods; and her two brothers, Darrell Woods and James Starr Sr.
Alveda touched so many lives and was loved by all those who knew her. She will be greatly missed and never forgotten.
The Dressing Service was held yesterday at Merritt Funeral Home with Overnight Service following at the 1910 Shaker Church in White Swan. A Funeral Service will be held today, Tuesday, February 23, 2016, starting at 8 a.m. also at the church. Burial will follow at the Union Gap Cemetery. Merritt Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements.
