Benjamin Devis Garcia

Benjamin Devis Garcia, 79, of Wapato died peacefully at his home on February 23, 2016 after a two year-

long battle with cancer. He was born May 12, 1936 in Sta. Maria, lIocos Sur, Philippines to Maximo

and Petra Devis Garcia. Mr. Garcia farmed in the Wapato area (The Garcia Farms) for many years from

1969 to 2014. Mr. Garcia's survivors include a wife of 59 years of marriage, Corazon Arreola Garcia of

Wapato; 3 sons: Jerry and wife, Nenita Garcia of Wapato; Alfred and wife, Charito Garcia of Seattle; and

Nelson (Nick) and wife, Noemi Garcia of Renton; 1 daughter: Lillian and husband, Mauro Dollente Jr. of

Seattle; 13 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren; sisters: Avelina Garcia of Maui and Candida Garcia Della

of Maui; brothers: Amancio Garcia of Maui and Cornel Garcia of Los Angeles. Numerous

nephews, nieces and cousins of Maui and Los Angeles. He was preceded in death by his

parents; his brother Fausto Garcia and sister Timotea Garcia Alejo. Visitation will be Friday, March 04,

2016, from 2:00 to 7:00 pm at Merritt Funeral Homes in Wapato. Rosary Service will be Friday, March 04,

2016, from 7:00 to 8:00 pm at Merritt Funeral Homes in Wapato. Funeral Mass will be Saturday, March

05, 2016, from 9:30 am to 10:30 am at St. Peter Claver Catholic Church in Wapato. Farewell Services

will follow at Reservation Community Memorial Park, west of Wapato. Merritt Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements.
