

Alan Eugene Waller Sr., age 81, a longtime resident of Warren, died Friday, February 12, 2010. Alan was born December 29, 1928 in Detroit, Michigan the son of the late Elmer Herman Waller and the late Emma (nee: Wilson) Waller. Mr. Waller was raised in Detroit and graduated from Eastern High School. He later entered military serving during the Korean War with the United States Navy. After his military service Mr. Waller went to work for Michigan Bell for the next 20 years before retiring as a switchman. Later he operated his own janitorial business before he and his wife operated their own florist shop for many years. Never one to sit still Mr. Waller continued working delivering flowers for Downings Florist until his death. Mr. Waller was a member of the Harper Woods Lions Club for over 45 years and the AMVETS for over 28 years. Alan also had many hobbies in life including golf, playing cards, bowling, and visiting the casinos. He also loved to play computer poker, and tend to his yard and flowers. His favorite season of the year was Christmas where he would gather his entire family on Christmas Eve to decorate his enormous Christmas tree. However his number one passion in life was to be surrounded by his loving family, and his loving wife. Surviving Alan is his loving wife of over 55 years, Beverly Jean (nee: Kidder). He is the dear father of Richard (Vicki), Keith (Kim), Shirley, Alan Jr. (Lori), Barb (Frank) Wrublesky, Gail (Hogan) Bielski, Carol, Nancy, and James (Anna Marie) Waller. Also the loving grandfather of Kelly, Melissa, Danielle, Kyla, Adam, Keith, Derrek, Jake, Jacqueline, Jason, Andrew, Anthony, and great-grandfather of Noah, Caleb, Brayden, Landrie, and soon to be Baby Girl. Visitation for Mr. Waller will be Monday from 3-9 pm, at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 Mile). Mr. Waller will lie in state Tuesday 10 am at Hope Lutheran Church, 32400 Hoover in Warren, until the time of the Funeral Service at 11 am. Celebrating the services will be Pastor John Duerr.
