

Alfred P. Rinke age 92 died December 10, 2008 at the John D. Dingell V.A. Medical Center in Detroit. Alfred was born on the family farm in Warren named Rinkland Farm, to his late parents John and Edith (nee: Baumgartner) Rinke. A lifelong resident of Warren, Alfred graduated from St. Clement High School in Center Line and worked the family farm and also at the Warren Co-Op, before being called to serve his country during World War II. Alfred served in the United States Army Air Corps and was a gunner aboard a B-24 Liberator before being captured and serving as P.O.W. for one year and eleven days at the notorious Stalag 17B. Once the prison camp was liberated, Alfred returned to Warren where he would eventually marry his love of his life Ann Marie Hagen May 18th, 1946. He and Ann Marie were married for over 58 years before her death. Mr. Rinke retired as the administrator and manager of the Warren Co-Op. Alfreds father was one of the founding farmers and board members of the Co-Op. Alfred was also a founding member of St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church, where he volunteered as an usher and money counter. Also he was longtime member of the Fr. Kramer Knights of Columbus. When Mr. Rinke was not working he enjoyed going to the Detroit Tiger baseball games, golfing, bowling, playing cards and pinochle, traveling overseas, spending time with friends in Winter Haven, Florida, listening to music, or just cutting his lawn. However his family came first in his life... he enjoyed all the family gatherings and functions. Mr. Rinke was predeceased by his beloved wife, Ann Marie (nee:Hagen) Rinke. Alfred is the loving father of David, Sr. Ellen Rinke, I.H.M., Fred (Kathy) Rinke, Elaine (Kevin) Greene, Karen (Lon) Reader, Annette (Robert) Knoth, Cheryl (Robert) Tank, and Maureen (the late Anthony) Genova. Devoted grandfather of Heather, Elizabeth, Matthew, Nathan, Carson, Joseph, Rebecca, Amanda, Charlie, Steven, Rachel, Bryan, Gina, Anthony, and Michael. Great grandfather of Anna, Esmeralda, Faith, Ryan, and Douglas. Dear Brother of Bud Rinke, Jeannette (David) Degrandchamp, John G. Rinke. Mr. Rinke was predeceased by his parents and siblings; Andrew Rinke, Leo Rinke, Harold Rinke, Eileen Beck, Marvin Rinke and Robert Rinke. Visitation for Mr. Rinke will be Friday from 2-9 pm with a Scripture service 7pm, at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 mile). Mr. Rinke will lie in state Saturday 9:00 am at St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church, until the time of the Funeral Mass at 9:30 am. Celebrating the Funeral Liturgy will be Rev. Fr. John Hall and interment will follow at St. Clement Cemetery in Center Line. Memorial donations are appreciated to the I.H.M. Sisters Retirement Fund, 610 W. Elm Ave., Monroe Michigan 48162.
