Anthony McHenry Jones Sr.

Anthony was the beloved husband and best friend of Vanessa Jones for 55 years and a devoted father to Anthony (Althea) Jones Jr., Kevin Jones, and Keith (Carrie) Morrison. He was a loving brother to Dwight Jones and is also survived by many

grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who will cherish his memory. Anthony had a rare gift for friendship, every relationship he formed grew into a deep and lasting bond.

An avid football fan, Anthony’s excitement for the game was infectious and it rubbed off on his grandchildren, who now celebrate a touchdown with the same joy and enthusiasm he always did. Anthony also found joy in life’s simple pleasures like gardening and peaceful moments outdoors sitting on his porch. After his naps, it was a favorite ritual for Anthony and Vanessa to play music on Alexa, filling their home with songs and laughter. He also appreciated the finer things in life, enjoying champagne, Remy Martin cognac, Famous Dave’s ribs, and a good surf-and-turf meal. Anthony dearly missed his loyal German Shepherd, Michael Von Jeckle III. He was a proud member of the NACIREMA Club, the first African American social club in Michigan, an organization that held a special place in Detroit’s community history. Anthony also took great pride in his career as a licensed insurance salesman and financial planner. One of his fondest childhood memories was Christmas morning in 1956, when he received a Lionel train set and his father lovingly set it up for him, a moment that stayed with him throughout his life.

Visitation will be held on Friday, February 13, from 3:00pm until 8:00pm, at A.H. Peters Funeral Home, 32000 Schoenherr Road, in Warren. Instate will occur the following day, Saturday, February 14, from 9:00am until the time of the funeral service at 10:00am, at A.H. Peters Funeral Home. He will be interred at Resurrection Cemetery in Clinton Township.
