

Barbara Alicia Balon, D.H.M. age 81 of Warren, died Sunday, February 17, 2008 at St. John Hospital in Detrtoit. Barbara was born September 30, 1926 in Meadville, Pennsylvania the daughter of the late John F. Balon and the late Barbara D. (nee: Chmura) Balon. Barbara was the beloved sister of the late Frank Balon, and Sister in-law of Ann Balon. Barbara is the loving godmother of Marcia Watkins, and Donald Kleszcz. She is also survived by her dear friend and caregiver Laurie Schultz, and many cousins. Barbara was raised in Detroit until the age of 19, and graduated from East Commerce High School. After high school she worked as a secretary for the United States Government for a year, before working for two different banks for six years, and the Chancery office for the Archdiocese in Detroit. Barbara also worked part-time selling clothing for Saks Fifth Avenue and B. Siegel Company. Barbara professed her faith and first vows with the Daughters of the Heart of Mary Society in 1955, and professed five year vows as a nun in 1963. A dedicated servant to the D.H.M. Barbara also worked for over 30 years as a corporate secretary for Chrysler Mopar Parts division in Center Line. Visitation for Barbara will be Thursday from 2-9 pm with a evening Rosary at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 Mile). Funeral Services will begin Friday with Barbara laying in state 11 am at St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church, until the time of the Funeral Mass at 11:30 am. Celebrating the funeral liturgy will be Rev. Fr. Roman Pasieczny. Entombment will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Memorial Donations appreciated to D.H.M.
