

Barbara Louise Van Gorder, age 77 of Center Line, died Thursday March 16, 2006 at St. John Macomb Hospital in Warren. Mrs. Van Gorder was born December 18, 1928 in Highland Park Michigan, the daughter of the late Eldon Maish and the late Rose Marie (nee: Loy) Maish. Mrs. Van Gorder was raised in Detroit, graduating from the Detroit Public Schools. Always one to stay active and work... Mrs. Van Gorder worked many jobs before settling at Michigan Bell as a sales representative. Mrs. Van Gorder would continue to work for Michigan Bell for over 20 years before her retirement. When she was not working or taking care of her children and household, Mrs. Van Gorder enjoyed traveling with her husband or spending time at their cottage in northern Michigan. She also enjoyed going to the casino, reading, or doing puzzles. She will be most remembered by her family as a loving mother, grandmother, and dear friend. Mrs. Van Gorder was the beloved wife of the late Donald. She is the dear mother of David (Roberta)Van Gorder, Steven Van Gorder, Paul (Betty)Van Gorder, Richard (Kimberly)Van Gorder, and Jacqueline (Paul) Cook. Devoted grandmother of 7 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Loving sister of Sandra (Dave) Naples, and the late Patricia Tanner. Sister in law of Larry Tanner. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Visitation for Mrs. Van Gorder will be Monday 2-9 pm at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 Mile). There will be an evening Vigil Monday at 7:00 pm. Funeral services will be Tuesday with Mrs. Van Gorder laying in state at 9:30 am at St. Clement Catholic Church until the time of the Funeral Mass at 10:00 am. Officiating the funeral Mass will be Rev. Michael Gawlowski. Memorial donations appreciated to St. John Hospice. Please share memories of Mrs. Van Gorder at her guest book.
