Betty Inez Carl, age 87 of Warren, died Monday, November 9, 2020 at Beaumont Hospital in Troy, Michigan. She was born August 1, 1933 in Melrose Park, Illinois, daughter of the late Van and the late Vera (nee: Johnson) Barnes.
Betty was married to the love of her life, Alfred, for 62 years. Together they had two wonderful children, Colleen and Curtis. Betty and Alfred were lifetime members of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Roseville.
As Alfred worked, Betty took on the not always easy role of being a stay at home mother. She was able to take care of her children until they were able to take care of themselves. Eventually, Betty worked as a receptionist at an Insurance Agency until her retirement. Betty loved spending time with her family, and especially enjoyed being a grandma to Emily and Benjamin.
Betty and Alfred took advantage of their retirement years traveling in their motor home and camping. They were members of a group of camper friends called the “Sundowners,” as well as the Family Campers and RVer's, formerly the National Camping and Hiking Association. She enjoyed being outside with nature and was also a big animal lover. She will be missed immensely and loved eternally by all who knew her.
Betty was the beloved wife of the late Alfred. Loving mother of Colleen Carl and Curtis (Stacy). Dear grandmother of Emily and Benjamin Carl. She is also survived by her cousin Ron Johnson and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her siblings; Charles Barnes, Lillian Wolverton, and Patricia Kerr.
A private family service will be held for Betty.
Memorial donations, in Betty's name, are appreciated to either Hospice of Michigan or Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 29675 Gratiot Ave, Roseville, MI 48066.
