

Betty L. Porter passed away peacefully on October 28th, 2024. She was 95 years old. She was born in Detroit on February 5th, 1929 to Wirt and Mary Cowan. They moved to East Detroit in 1943. Predeceased by loving husband Ray, son Lee, brother Carl, dear sister-in-law Ann, and a baby boy and girl at birth. Survived by daughter Gale Ann (Richard Willis) and daughter-in-law Pamela. Deeply loved grandchildren James Bostock, Jessica Willis (Dan O’Berski), Katy Willis (Dave Upton), Christopher Porter (Jenny), and Andrea Rospierski (Ernie). Devoted and deeply loved great-grandchildren Reggie, Cole, Marty, Molly, Olivia, Holden, David, Savannah, Jackson, and Ernie. Nephews James and Kelly. Several cousins, friends, the very loved Steller family, Hans Dahl, and special friend Janet.
Betty worked 28 years for the East Detroit Public School District. She loved to be with family, read, listen to music, dance, and watching her many great-grandchildren activities. She loved visiting Tennessee friends and her many animals over the years. She enjoyed traveling and camping with Ray, and had treasured memories of the Netherlands and Stellers.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to family, St. Jude Children’s Hospital or the Macomb Humane Society. Memorial visitation Sunday, November 10th from 3pm until 8pm with a memorial service at 6pm at A.H. Peters Funeral Home, 32000 Schoenherr Road, Warren, MI 48088. Inurnment at Cadillac Memorial Gardens East Cemetery in Clinton Township.
