Cardell H. Sudduth, of Warren, Michigan passed away on June 1, 2013, after Alzheimer's disease took nearly everything from him but the love of his devoted wife, Pauline and his five faithful children. Cardell, also known as Red; because of his signature look – perfectly coifed auburn pompadour styled with Vaseline Hair Tonic – lived a full life. He was a practical joker with a hearty laugh, who loved a good "zinger."Born in Arkansas, Cardell moved north as a child. He served in the Air Force during the Korean War, repairing aircraft at Selfridge Air Force Base. Red organized Air Force reunions some 50 years after service and tracked down long-lost comrades scattered across the country before the internet and Google made those types of searches easy.Skills learned at Selfridge Air Force Base helped Red secure a job with Ford Motor Company. He worked as a Research Technician in Dearborn for 30 years. He often said his career at Ford was one of the best things that ever happened to him. A proud Detroit auto worker, Red had harsh words for owners of for foreign cars. Vehicles that didn't roll off one of the BIG 3 factory lines were not welcome to park in his driveway. Cardell leaves behind his wife of 56 years, Pauline, who lovingly and patiently cared for him as Alzheimer's, stole his memory. Together they had six children.Cardell joins his oldest daughter Mary who died shortly after birth, his mother Virgie and his sisters, Beautohn, and Jeffie in eternal peace. He is survived by his sister, Joann Sullivan. Cardell leaves behind five children, Elizabeth Catania, Cardell Jonathan, Mark, Matthew and Kelly McDonnell, as well as their spouses Joe Catania, Sue Sudduth, and John McDonnell. Cardell was also the proud grandfather to nine grandchildren; Taylor Catania, Melissa and Nicholas Sudduth, Donald, Kelsey, Aaron and Zachary Cardell Sudduth, Mallory and Jack McDonnell. The family would also like to thank the caregivers at Sunrise Memory Care Center in Grosse Pointe for their four years of support.Cardell's visitation will be held on Tuesday 3-9pm at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 ½ Mile Road). His Funeral Service will be on Wednesday at 10:30 am at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers donations appreciated to the Alzheimer's Association, Greater Chapter, 25200 Telegraph Rd., Ste. 100, Southfield, MI 48033-7443. Please share memories at his guest book.
