Carol Ann Brand, age 60 of Chesterfield, died Tuesday, October 23, 2018 at Henry Ford Macomb Hospital in Clinton Township, Michigan. She was born January 28, 1958 in Grosse Pointe, Michigan, daughter of Ronald and the late Helen (nee: Salamie) Bochniak. In her earlier years, Carol was a customer service agent with the once familiar, E & R Industrial Supply in Warren. Being both proud and honored in bringing her expertise and professionalism to each day's operations, she was a loyal and dedicated employee even through the acquisition of the business by its new owner, Grainger Industrial Supply. Along with her responsibilities at work, Carol held down another important role in life,…that of a loving and dutiful Homemaker and Mom. She ran a tight ship within her walls of love, and was intently in touch with meeting the needs of all her dear ones, both old and young alike. From her husband to the youngest grandchild, each will attest to what a great cook she was known to be and the incredible magic she performed in the kitchen. Mealtimes were always special and a tasty treat at Carol's table,…and if you left it hungry, you just weren't tryin'! Carol was also known for her love of family gatherings. She loved hosting Thanksgiving dinner and inviting everyone over for a meal. Along with her cooking prowess, she had a unique and genuine knack of creating a fun and entertaining environment for all to enjoy an afternoon and/or evening of partying pleasure, and a venue which also helped to create some warm & wonderful memories. And when the family needs and party planning were behind her, Carol found great delight in exercising that green thumb of hers in her yard and garden. With natural talents and skills in tilling the soil and preparing the foundation for her favorite flora and fauna, Carol exuded her own brand of tender-loving-care in its nurturing and growth which was always a vision of splendor. As for the pastimes she enjoyed, right towards the top of the list was her fascination and fanhood for her favorite boys of summer, the iconic Detroit Tigers. Known to all as a "sports nut," she was a proud season ticket holder for the Tigers and spent many-an-inning in those treasured seats rooting on her beloved hometown boys. Another of Carol's sporting pleasures took her to "The Links" where she loved putting her golf clubs in action in pursuit of that coveted Hole-in-One. Nothing says fun like a beautiful, sunny day on the course with friends,…especially at that always-favorite 19th Hole. And quite often that meant Carol was accompanied by her golfing pals, Joe & MaryAnn. Together they swang a lot of clubs, put many-a-mile on golf carts, and shared some hilarious moments as they chased that little white ball around the course. And then there was her love of travel,…something Carol cherished, especially when it came time for the family vacations up in Port Austin, Michigan. Of course, her travel portfolio held a wonderful mix of the scenic splendor the years and trips provided, but there was just no beating the majesty and grandeur of Port Austin, one of Michigan's "gems on the lake."A beautiful and funny woman to all,…a term of affection that often defined Carol to many was also "goofy." She had a broad and genuine sense of humor that rode the edge of silly,…but was largely in part the reason she was so endeared and embraced. If you ever shared her company, you just knew the laughter was soon to ensue. And for as comical as she could be, she was equally creative and artistic as well. With an imagination that inspired many, Carol's innovative nature infused a host of admirers over the years with her gifts that lie within. Another aspect of Carol's nature was witnessed in her generous & giving spirit; she always put others' needs ahead of her own. Possessing an unselfish and nurturing heart, Carol was forever doting on others,…especially her family, her precious grandchildren, and her cherished "fur babies," Mandy, Zoey, Chelce and Charleigh.Yet of all that can be shared about Carol's life, perhaps the most telling and moving would have to be her hard-fought battle with the monster called cancer. A 12 year encounter that was fraught with several ups and downs, she never gave up hope, never missed a day of work, and was passionate to hang in until the battle was won. Just like little Davey who slayed the giant with a simple rock, Carol's slingshot was armed with strength and energy,…a determination against which no monster could stand, especially hers. Carol's example of faith in action was a lesson to us all and is sure to live on in the memories that are revisited with each reflection shared. Her legacy of love is a testimony to the countless lives she touched along the way, souls that were changed, enhanced and encouraged by her unique and genuine spirit. She will be missed immensely and loved eternally. Carol was the beloved wife of Kip. Dearest mother of Kelly (Michael) Farmer, Sandra Rosteck, and Jamie (Markis) Small. Sister of Lynn Weinert, and Ronnie (Diane) Bochniak and Susan Bochniak. Loving grandmother of Cameron, Jackson, Grace, Noah, and Jameson. Godmother of Jarrett and Tracey. Visitation for Carol will be held Friday, October 26th from 2-9 pm at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Rd. at Common (12 ½ Mile Rd.) in Warren. Her Funeral Service will take place at 11:00 am on Saturday at the funeral home. Memorial donations are appreciated to the family. Please share memories of Carol at her guest book above.
