Carol Ann Outlan, age 81, of Warren, Michigan passed away on Friday, May 5, 2023. Carol was born, December 27, 1941, in Detroit, Michigan to the late Edward Walter Koslosky, and the late Mary M. (nee: Kubala) Koslosky.
Carol was born in Detroit and raised in Hamtramck. She was very proud of her Polish heritage and Catholic upbringing, graduating from St. Florian’s High School in 1959. An independent and vivacious woman, Carol could be found drag racing and cruising Gratiot in her youth. This is where she met the love of her life, Darrell, and they soon became inseparable. Darrell and Carol married on January 5, 1963, and proceeded to create their family along with a lifetime of memories. They shared the love of the outdoors and spent many unforgettable summers camping; especially memorable are the times spent with family and friends at their Fitchburg seasonal site (stories of ice cream at The Parlour and going to Red Barn Auction live on). Sage Lake seasonal campground also invokes so many fond memories. Later, Carol and her family enjoyed time at their seasonal property at Houghton Lake. Trips to Mackinac Island, Traverse City, and special trips to the Smokey Mountains, Florida, and Disney World are remembered.
Carol held various jobs throughout her lifetime. A couple that had the greatest impact include serving concessions at Joe Louis Arena where she worked all of the Red Wing home games. She also worked in food service for GM, which played into her love of cooking. Her children fondly remember her Polish dinners. Along with work and family, Carol found time for hobbies like going to ceramics classes and making some treasured family keepsakes. She also loved her lottery scratchers and enjoyed her midnight shopping trips to Meijer. Her kids and grandkids share a laugh over Carol’s love of goats and their antics as well as her use of the various apps and filters on her smartphone to share goofy pictures and videos. The Impractical Jokers (one of her favorite shows) had nothing on Carol when it came to getting a laugh.
Carol’s fur and feathered family was especially dear to her. She and Darrell had various birds, dogs, and a cat over their lifetimes. Chi Chi their Chihuahua was most treasured. After the loss of her beloved Darrell in 2014, Chi Chi became a source of great comfort to Carol. She became her constant companion and kept her company as she coped with the loss.
Carol’s wonderful sense of humor, drive for adventure, and love for her family and God will forever be treasured by all who knew her. She will be missed immensely and loved eternally by her family and friends.
Carol was the beloved wife of the late Darrell. Loving mother of Lisa (Mark) Fedruk, Darrell Jr. (Tracey) Outlan, and Cathy Outlan. Loving grandmother of Amanda, Alex, Tyler, and Breanna. Dearest sister of the late Richard Koslosky.
