Charles John Dimock age 86 of Warren, died Wednesday, August 15, 2018 at the American House Elmwood Place in Rochester Hills, Michigan. Charles was born July 26, 1932 in Detroit.Detroit is where Charles grew up, received his education, and ultimately graduated from high school. Not long after graduation, Charles answered the call of our country and entered the armed forces during the Korean War era. Electing the valiant U.S. Marine Corps as his branch of choice, Charles served with pride and honor in carrying out his duties and helping to make a difference in the lives of our brave allies-in-arms. His service to our country instilled within him a deep sense of patriotism, a true love for our nations flag, and a strong desire to help others. For the sacrifices made and his willingness to stand in harm's way for the cause of freedom, we honor Charles' service and extend to him our posthumous gratitude for his brave and faithful heart. Semper Fi, Corpsman.Upon his return to Detroit, an extremely celebratory event took place the day that Charles decided to put a ring on the hand of the beautiful, Miss Stephanie Beger as they shared their vows of marriage in one of God's houses in Detroit. Following the "I Do's" and that romantic embrace, Mr. & Mrs. Charles Dimock joined their loved ones and friends as the celebration continued amidst the picturesque setting of Belle Isle. It was a wedding reception for the ages, and the beginning of much more joy and celebration as Charles & Stephanie embarked on their life's journey together,...hand-in-hand, now adorned with the rings to eternally remind them of the love that bound them as one. Charles' strong ties and sense of devotion to the city of Detroit would once again shine through when he joined forces with the Detroit Police Department and became one of Detroit's Finest, a position and responsibility he held with esteemed pride and honor for the next 25 years until accepting his well-deserved retirement. Charles was still quite young when he retired from the police department, but certainly was not ready to retire from working. So with a history of outstanding performance in serving & protecting, it just made perfect sense that the next 20 years of his life would be spent as an assistant supervisor of security for the DMC at Harper Hospital in Detroit.Charles and Stephanie were not big on traveling, so they were perfectly content to simply stay at home with their furry friends. Stephanie believed that no one could care for their dogs like she could, and boarding them was out of the question. As well, Charles was always busy tending to his garden and making it a thing of beauty, which made it tough on him to be away from home. But "home" was always good for these lovebirds and was a sanctuary they enjoyed beyond measure.Charles was the loving husband of the late Stephanie (April 7, 2014), father of Michael (Karen) Dimock, and brother of Shirley (Bob) Ghena, Richard (Gay) Dimock, Ray Elmore, and William (Marcy) Dimock. Brother-in-law of Carol Dimock. He was preceded in death by siblings; David, Dorothy, Jim, and Helen. Visitation for Charles will be held Sunday, August 19th from 4-8 pm at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 1/2 Mile Rd.) in Warren. He will lie in state on Monday from 9:00 am until the time of his Funeral Mass at 9:30 am at St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church, 31555 Hoover Road in Warren.
