Daniel Edwin Peltier, age 60 of Center Line, died Wednesday, August 12, 2020 at Harper Hospital in Detroit. He was born October 24, 1959 in Grosse Pointe, Michigan, son of the late Edwin and the late Dorothy (nee: Wieczynski) Peltier.
A man of many talents, Daniel’s work history was speckled with a varied set of skill sets that truly defined his being a “Jack of All Trades.” Though his last job was that of a mechanic in a small engine repair shop, the job he held previously at the marina was probably more suited to the work he truly enjoyed. Boating, and his affinity for all things nautical, was high on Daniel’s list of “favorites,” and a source of great joy and entertainment for him. He loved being out on the water, especially when he was navigating those waters in one of the two boats he had the pleasure of owning. From the 28’ Owens Cabin Cruiser to his 28’ Richardson Speedboat, splitting the waves was definitely no problem for Captain Dan. His boating appreciation also took its form in the many boat models he crafted over the years, a collection that was an extension of Daniel’s penchant for the nautical pastime that enveloped his life.
When back on land, Daniel’s talents were also witnessed in the garden he maintained and nurtured over the years. Dedicated primarily to the many vegetable types he chose to plant, Daniel’s garden was always a thing of beauty and an ample reflection of the “Homegrown Horticulturalist” that lie within. With a green thumb and the tender-loving-care of a farmer, Daniel’s vegetable garden provided the staples for many wonderful meals and snacks.
Born at the end of the 50’s, Daniel’s infancy was infused with some of the finest music the century had produced. Coming of age in the 60’s and 70’s, his appreciation for music was now being filled with the sounds of Rock N Roll from all over the world. When the Fab Four landed on American soil, it was just the beginning of the music that Daniel would grow to admire and turn to when he just wanted to chill.
Daniel was also a man of faith. Growing up with religious roots that ran deep, his devotion was more of a quiet one that defined the old adage; “still waters run deep.” Though his faith was mostly inward, one of the outward ways it showed itself was through his membership in the Knights of Columbus. Being a resident of Center Line, he made his way one day to the doors of the Fr. Kramer Council and became a member of the Catholic church’s iconic group of men volunteering their time and devotion to the charitable works of the Christian faith. Ultimately attaining to the level of a 3rd Degree Knight, Daniel truly enjoyed the fraternal brotherhood of the Knight’s and served with honor.
Daniel was the beloved son of his late parents, Edwin & Dorothy Peltier. Dear brother of Tom (Denise) Peltier, Patti (Carl) Lagodna, and Alan Hilla.
Visitation for Daniel will be held Monday, August 17th from 5-9 pm at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 ½ Mile Rd) in Warren.
