

David Warner Walters, 78 of Warren, died Sunday, March 16, 2008 at Autumn Woods Health Care Facility in Warren, after suffering many years from the effects of Alzheimers disease and Parkinsons disease. Mr. Walters was born September 18, 1929 in Widen, West Virginia the son of the late Earl Walters and the late Lela (nee: Warner) Walters. He is survived by his loving wife wife of 56 years Mary (nee: Dragonas), and his dear children Kyra (Paul) Anderson, Derek (Sandra) Walters. Also surviving are five grandchildren; Jesse Anderson, Ashley (Daniel) Johnson, Jordan Walters, & Parker Walters, and great-grandson Jack Johnson. Mr. Walters was predeceased by siblings, Yonda Schafnitz, and Kent Walters. Mr. Walters served in the Navy during Korean Conflict having attained the rank of MML3. He entered the service on January 25, 1952 in Washington, DC and was discharged on December 3, 1953 in Boston, MA. After his military service he returned to Detroit to pursue a career as an industrial engineer. Mr. Walters was hired by General Motors Cadillac Car division and worked for over 37 years before his retirement. When Mr. Walters was not working he loved and cared for his family, along with his three cats, Johnny, Sunny, and Cloudy. Mr. Walters was a big car enthusiast, who had a passion for his industry and job. In his earlier years he enjoyed reading, drawing, hiking, canoeing, traveling, and eating rhubarb pies. Memorial visitation for Mr. Walters will be Wednesday from 4:30-9 pm. A memorial service will also be held Wednesday evening at 8 pm.
