David Wood

Dr. David Wood, age 79 of Warren, died Friday, May 27, 2011 at the St. John Macomb-Oakland Hospital, Macomb Center in Warren. He was born in Detroit on January 24, 1932, the son of the late Lawrence and the late Evelyn (nee: Milatz) Wood. With thanks & praise from a grateful nation, we honor David for his service to our country as a soldier in the United States Army. Following his army service, David chose to put his learning and knowledge to work through a career in the field of education. Being a consummate student himself in achieving his PhD. David's career path found him engaged with many different schools where he served for over 25 years as the Superintendent, lastly with Warren Woods School Distict. Upon his retirement from the realm of education, David set his sights on a new and interesting challenge, the field of Financial Investing, where he worked as a Financial Consultant at Standard Federal Bank in Warren. When he wasn't working, David found great enjoyment in reading, golfing, or playing euchre. Another one on the favorite's list was his love of traveling. Getting away and seeing the sights was the perfect answer for this hard-working man. For over 10 years, he & Charmaine were blessed to exchange the wiles of winter in Michigan for the sunshine and warmth of the Mexican coast. Whether it was hangin' with his boating buddies at the Emerald City Boat Club in Warren, or enjoying the perks of friendship & membership at the Idle Hours Yacht Club on Harson's Island. David was loving husband, father, grandfather and Educator, the lives David touched are countless. He was the beloved husband of Charmaine. Dear father of Lisa Wood, David (Polly) Wood, and Todd (Cherie) Wood. Loving grandfather of Bradley, Nicholas, Cassidy, Ashley, Todd, and Dane. Brother of Lillian McLean. Also survived by his special, furry friend, "Pringa,"...his adoring Chihuahua. Visitation for David will be held on Tuesday, May 31st from 3-9pm at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 1/2 Mile Rd) in Warren. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, 11:00am at the funeral home.
