

Dennis James Semak, a cherished friend, beloved family member, and devoted enthusiast of life’s simple pleasures, passed away on August 22, 2024. He was born on September 18, 1949 to Thaddeus and Geraldine (née Popielarz) Semak in Detroit, Michigan.
Shortly after graduating from Warren High School, Dennis joined the United States Army. He was devoted patriot who was proud to have served this country during the Vietnam War era. Dennis served with distinction and carried the values of duty, integrity, and sacrifice throughout his life.
Equally devoted to his faith, John was an active member of his church, where he volunteered tirelessly and found solace and purpose. His life was a testament to the strength of faith and the spirit of service. John’s legacy of devotion and service will be remembered with great respect and fondness by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Dennis was also a man who found joy in the simple things: the roll of a bowling ball, the perfect golf swing, and the thrill of a slot machine. His love for bowling was evident in his frequent appearances at the local lanes. Dennis could also often be found on the golf course or visiting the casino playing slots.
Beloved brother of Larry Semak, Darlene (Stan) Sawicki, Gerald (Diann) Semak, Ron Semak, Brian Semak, and the late Robert Semak; dear uncle of Mark, Eric, Jason, Dana, and the late Joe; cherished great-uncle of Sophie, Isabelle, Gretchen, Colin, Ruby, Lucas, and Henry. Preceded in death by his parents Thaddeus and Geraldine Semak.
A funeral mass to celebrate Dennis’s life will be held at a date that is still being determined.
Dennis James Semak will be remembered for his simple yet profound joy in life, his generous spirit, and the warmth he brought to those around him. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him and in the many happy moments he shared. Rest in peace, Dennis.
