At Lockheed, he was responsible for the designing of the camera system in their Redstone Rocket. Finally, he served as a structural engineer for the automotive giant, Chrysler. As you might imagine for a gentleman who spent the first part of his working career around airplanes, Dino had a sincere love and fascination with airplanes and aviation in general. As a retired engineer, Mr. Fontana liked to keep his mind sharp doing crossword puzzles and solving Sudoku's. He was also one of the millions of us who have enjoyed spending countless hours on the links in pursuit of that elusive "Hole in One." Dino also enjoyed spending his free time bowling. Dino enjoyed almost all sports and was an avid Tigers, Red Wings, Lions, Pro Golf and Professional Bowling fan.Mr. Fontana stayed active as long as his health permitted. The last few years of his life found his health fading and he was unable to maintain his active lifestyle. Despite his diminished health, Dino forced himself to move every day. Each day, Dino would get himself dressed and would drive he and his wife, Clare to their local McDonalds for a trip through the drive-thru. These trips to McDonalds were a testament to what was truly most important to Mr. Fontana, and that was his family. The dear father of Kevin (Donna) and Dina (James Wyckhouse) Fontana. He was also the beloved brother of Violet Frescura and the treasured grandfather of Dino M. and Nicholas A.
