Dolores (nee: Yanssens) Seguin, age 87, passed away peacefully at her home in Warren, Michigan on February 3, 2020. Dolores was born July 31, 1932. A mother of seven, grandmother to 19 and great-grandmother to 19, her family was her favorite thing in life.
Dolores grew up in Detroit, graduated from Dominican Catholic High School and earned her college degree in education from the University of Detroit. She was a beloved elementary school teacher for a few years following her college degree. She married the love of her life, Richard E. Seguin, and soon they were few kids on their way to having a big family.
Dolores left the teaching profession and turned all of her attention toward her children. Those children, and the many grandchildren and great-grandchildren that followed, count themselves among the luckiest, because of the care and compassion she showered over them. Dolores was intelligent and kind, loving and fun. She always enjoyed a good party or a night out, and if it was with friends and family, then she was in her glory. Her faith was strong only matched by her love for the people closest to her.
Dolores is survived by her children Sue (George) Eichorn, Nancy (Phil) Carlisi, Kathy Seguin, Cindy (Ken) Yamamoto, Carol (Phil) Ladyka, Julie (Tom) DeGrez, Rick (Jennifer) Seguin, and a large extended family including nieces, nephews, cousins and her beloved dog Timmy. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Richard, her mother Blanche, her father Alphonse, her step-father Rene, and her brother, Alphonse.
The most common words used to describe her are sweet and cute. Simply put, she was adorable. She made friends easily everywhere she went, from Detroit to Warren to her many snowbird years in Ft. Myers Beach, Florida. People could feel her genuine warmth within moments of meeting her. Dolores was pure love, and she will be exceedingly missed.

Mrs. Seguin will lie in state Saturday 9:30am at St. Faustina Catholic Church, until the time of the Funeral Mass at 10am. Celebrating the Funeral Liturgy will be Reverend Fr. Timothy Galos. Interment will follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Detroit, Michigan.
