Donald Howard Stiers

Donald was the beloved husband of the late Donna Stiers, with whom he shared over 60 wonderful years of marriage. He was a loving father to Lonnee (Pam) Stiers and Laura (Joe) Supinsky. He was a proud grandfather to Michael (Tricia), Steven (Shawna), Darren (Cadie), Corey (Breanne), Ashley, and Colin, and a cherished great-grandfather to Peyton, Raylee, Charles, Chase, Felix, Sebastian, Lily, Remmington, Gunnar, Cooper, and Easton. He adored his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, all of whom lovingly knew him as “Grandpa Don.” He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and his three brothers.

Donald proudly served his country as a U.S. Army veteran during the Korean War. He had a deep love for the outdoors and spent much of his life enjoying nature. An avid fisherman and small game hunter, he traveled throughout Michigan and Canada pursuing his passions. He cherished summers spent camping with his family and making lasting memories at their cottage in Alpena. Donald was also an enthusiastic boater who owned his own fishing boat and sailboat and enjoyed waterskiing and windsurfing well into his 70s. His adventurous spirit and love of the outdoors were an inspiration to all who knew him.

Instate will be held on Saturday, April 4, from 2pm until the time of the funeral service at 4pm, at A.H. Peters Funeral Home, 32000 Schoenherr Road, in Warren.
