Doris Mae Porter, age 82 of Warren, died Thursday, December 12, 2013 at the Bortz Health Care Facility in Warren. She was born January 24, 1931 in Detroit, Michigan, daughter of the late James Lemmons and the late Hattie (nee: Johnson) Lemmons.Doris was a lady who possessed a number of different interests and pastimes, all of which seemed to define that creative flair within. Like many mothers and grandmothers, she definitely knew her way around the kitchen and worked some incredible magic with her cooking and baking skills. From the fabulous dinners to those delicious cakes and cookies, it wasn't hard to leave her table with a smile. And for a holiday treat, Doris will forever be remembered for her infamous fruitcake,…a tasty treat that got devoured instead of re-gifted.Another of Doris' favorite interests involved her crafting skills and a passion for collecting dolls. She was also a huge fan of jewelry…"a little bling was quite the thing!" And if you were ever having a hard time finding Doris, it may have been because she was off somewhere shopping. She loved to shop and was always in search of those great bargains. For her entertainment pleasures, there was never a greater fan than Doris when it came to the music of Johnny Cash or the classic movies of Shirley Temple. Between the two, she enjoyed countless hours of listening and viewing highlights. Another of Doris' favorite indulgements was the infamous "late night snack." Nothing says "delight" like raiding the fridge for a little comfort food,…and she found comfort on many occasions. She was also quite fond and reflective of her vacations to Texas.Yet, without question, the greatest of Doris' passions was found in the joy she received through the love of family and the moments they spent creating the special memories she carried in her heart. Family meant the world to her, as did those extended loved ones who helped to make up the fabric of all she held dear. She touched a multitude of lives along the way and will be remembered by all for her kind and caring ways. She will be missed immensely and loved eternally. She was the beloved wife of the late Raymond. Dear mother of Mark Mortuk, Ann Burke, the late Valerie Mortuk, and the late Alice Porter. Loving grandmother of 10 and great-grandmother of 25. Visitation for Doris will be held on Friday, December 20th from 3-9pm at the D.S.
