Dorothy Ann Flinn

Dorothy Ann Flinn, age 90 of Warren, died Tuesday, December 9, 2014 at the Oakmont Sterling Assisted Living Center in Sterling Heights surrounded by her loved ones. She was born March 22, 1924 in Detroit, daughter of the late Stanley and the late Anna (nee: Manglier) Eisbrenner.Dorothy was one of nine children who grew up in the city of Warren and attended Lincoln High School. She was a graduate of the Class of '42, and just recently enjoyed the pleasure of attending her 72nd class reunion. In 1944, she married the love of her life, Robert Flinn, and the two newlyweds decided to remain in their hometown of Warren where they spent many happy years and raised four beautiful children. Later in life, a relocation would find them enjoying the quaint community of Pleasant Ridge,…and Dorothy's last six months was spent in the warm and inviting comfort of the Oakmont Sterling Assisted Living Center in Sterling Heights.Dorothy loved to read, and also loved to travel which is something she did quite extensively,…especially when it meant exchanging the cold & wintry mix of Michigan for the warmth & sunshine of her southern retreat in Port Richey, Florida. But of all the pastimes that brought her pleasure, it was the game of golf that reigned supreme. Of the countless times Dorothy spent taming the links, there was one special day that she held close in her heart and mind,…the day she teed up and shot a "Hole-in-One!" For all golfers, it's a pinnacle moment that is never forgotten,…and for Dorothy, it was certainly her reality as well, a day & moment that instilled her with much pride and satisfaction.Dorothy loved having her family around and making those special memories that were both coveted and heartfelt. She leaves a legacy of love for all to cherish who were blessed to know her, and she will be missed immensely. May she rest in peace.Dorothy was the beloved wife of the late Robert. Dearest mother of Susan (Frank) Wagner, Eric (Christine) Flinn, Jeffrey (Cindy) Flinn, the late Cory Flinn, and mother-in-law of Ingrid Flinn. Loving grandmother of John (Christa), Carrie, Robert, Michael (Doni), Sera, Tristan, and great-grandmother of Aaron, Michael, and Louis. Visitation for Dorothy will be held on Thursday, December 11th from 3-9pm, with a 5:30pm Scripture Service, at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 1/2 Mile Rd.) in Warren. She will lie in state on Friday from 11:30am until time of the Funeral Mass at 12:00pm at St. Faustina Catholic Church in Warren.Memorial donations are welcomed to the Henry Ford Hospice Interdiscipline Care, One Ford Place 5A, Detroit, MI 48202.Please share memories of Dorothy at her memory book above.
