

Dorothy L. Socall, 84, of Warren, died Monday, May 30, 2005 at St. John Macomb Hospital, Warren. Dorothy was born September 25, 1920 in Camden, Tennessee to Bailey and Ida Gearin. At the age of 16 she moved to Detroit. In 1938 she married Everett Wittenmyer and started her family. The family moved to Warren in 1961 and was struck by tragedy in 1964 when Everett died. Dorothy began working at Van Dyke Schools as a cook and the head baker in 1965 and from which she retired in 1982. In 1966 she married Edward Socall and was blessed with 31 years of marriage until his death in 1997. Dorothy was a Sunday school teacher at Ryan Road Baptist. Most of all she loved to be with her family, and had a luncheon every Tuesday for her girls. She was the rock of the family and held them all closely together. People would comment on how wonderfully close her family was, and she was the reason why. The way Dorothy lived her life was a wonderful example to others. Dorothy is survived by her children Judith (Howard) Zacklan, Joyce (Jerry) Raedel, Anita (Scott) Ellis, Gary (Kate) Wittenmyer; step-children Allen Socall, Debby (Tim) Fudge; grandchildren Jeff, Laura, Scott, Brad, Dena, Erin; 7 great grandchildren; and brother Jim Gearin. she is preceded in death by her husbands Edward and Everett. Visitation for Dorothy will take place Tuesday 5-9 pm and Wednesday 1-9 pm at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover at Common (12 1/2 Mile). A funeral service will be held Thursday, June 2, 10:00 am at the funeral home. It will be officated by Pastor Wayne Cress. Interment will be in Cadillac Memorial Gardens East, Clinton Township.
