Edith Wilberta Anthony, age 93 of Warren, died Friday, November 20, 2015 at St. John Macomb-Oakland Hospital, Macomb Center in Warren. She was born February 27, 1922 in Freeland, Pennsylvania, daughter of the late Fred and the late Bertha (nee: Hoffman) Hess.A devout woman of faith, Edith was a longtime & faithful member of St. Paul United Church of Christ in Warren where she left an immense impact on the hearts of many through her abiding relationship with her Lord. Part of that impact was realized each time she read devotions to the women of the church, a ministry she held close to her heart. She and her husband, Ellsworth, were quite devoted to the church and did their part in helping to continue its ministry to the community. One of the ways they achieved their goal was through the unique and interesting jewelry they produced and sold, the proceeds of which went directly to supporting St. Paul's ministry. Though it's hard to believe how their beaded jewelry was created, the proof was definitely in the pudding. The beads were formed using the churches excess bulletins, which were then strung into necklaces. Though necklaces were not the only style of jewelry created, it was the lions share produced and requested.Along with the faith Edith held inside, that artistic flair she possessed came out through her appreciation of statuettes,…specifically those found in her coveted angel collection. Not merely a collector, but an artist with an eye for things heavenly, as found in each of her precious works.Edith was also known for her love of traveling, especially when it entailed heading out west to visit family. She and Ellsworth loved hitting the road as they embarked upon one of their many, memorable adventures. When times were a bit lean, these two lovebirds would often make do in their travels by house-sitting, a way of helping to make ends meet.Edith will also be remembered for her immense baking skills, the benefactor's of whom were often family, or the lucky recipients at one of the churches Bake Sales. Like many women of her time, Edith knew her way around the kitchen and worked some incredible magic with an oven,…specifically when it came to her mouth-watering Molasses Cupcakes, or those mind-blowing Sticky Buns that warmed the gullet. They were "sweets" from the sweetest lady around. Edith was the beloved wife of the late Ellsworth. Dear mother of Robert (Maureen) Anthony and Carol Ann (Everett) Bott. Loving grandmother of Penny Bott and Kevin Bott. Sister of Ruth Davenport, and the late Lois Wilson. Arrangements have been entrusted to the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home in Warren. Please share memories of Edith at her memory book above.
